HaPpY BiRtHdAy SiS!

Sitting here at the eleventh hour wondering...
what am I going to post for PINK SATURDAY?
And then it hits me!

My big sister's birthday is Sunday.
And I remembered a picture of her in
a cute PINK sweater.
Here she is at 3 years old.
And again at 4 . Longer hair and not sure what Mother was thinking with our bangs. Yes, mine looked like that too and also my little sister had the same cut. Was it the style then. Did any of you gals look like this or were you all snickering behind our backs?
But even so I think she was charming in
her soft pink 'Wish upon a star' sweater.

Here's wishing you a
Happy Birthday Pam!

There is a pile of PINK presents to open over
at Beverly's pink party place. See ya there!

Just fiddlin' around...

Every PARTY needs a little music. Well at least that's the story that has been passed down through the ages. And what kind of barn dance would it be if thar wernt no fiddle? This is were my relatives come in. We come from a long line of musical talent from my Granny who played by ear with the spoons and harmonics, my hubby's line were opera singers who traveled abroad, and my MIL's mother and family played around the wagon train camp fires and any barn dance they came across. The girl in the picture is Aline (my hubby's grandmother) as a teenager with her dad and uncle. c 1910
I rescued the fiddle from the house Aline lived in with her husband in Edna, Texas. Unfortunately it had hung on the wall for many, many years and the last few years in the home with no climate control once Mamaw went into the nursing home shortly after Papaw's death.
Two sad pieces to the story are of course the condition of this fiddle and the other...our son plays the fiddle and his great grandmother never got to hear him. I like to think God opens up a window in heaven every now and then and they pull up a cloud and enjoy the music.

Blast from the Past...

What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas!
~1958~

Family vacation...this was while I was still the
cute baby of the family. It would be a few more
years before my little sister comes to
dethrone me.

I guess rocks have been in my life
since the beginning.

And speaking of
'What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas'...

that must be where I left that cute little body.
Although my legs still look like that, but for some reason,
it's not quite as cute! ;-)

DisneyLand 1963...

I am doing a bit of time travel for my first
Sightseeing Saturday post.

Over the past several weeks several bloggers have brought fond memories to the forefront of my mind.

One lady shared about a trip to DisneyLand and how the Tikki room was a highlight. But time has changed it and not for the better. From her description I would have to agree.

And another lady, making an apron from her grandmother's pattern, made me think of my own Granny. She made most of our clothes. The shift--1960's--remember those? Granny made one for each of us girls. I'm the one on the left with my older sister and you-know-who in the middle.

Daddy, Mother, Granny, Pam,
ME, yes the bow-legged one ;-)
and cute little Dawn.

Not sure why Granny didn't make
Daddy and Papa a matching shirt.

Not many photos from the days before digital :-(

Post about your travels and share the memories
at Christine's Home and Travel Adventures.

and if you've come over for my Pink post
keep scrollin' and I hope you all have
a wonderful day!

WORDLESS WEDNESDAY
~~Father's Day~~

~*~*~*~*~*~

We are turning the living room into a media room.
Which means moving all 'my' stuff out.
This corner had all our music; instruments and
related equipment, but will move into the
family room in front of the fireplace (where the TV is now)
So here is a little corner all fresh and clean.
I love to rearrange the furniture and while
my guys were sailing the seas (last week) I began the switch.

The upper pictures are my grandparents.
The two under the mirror are my parents.
That's me in the big frame along with my
bronze hand print and my two sisters.
(I'm the middle daughter)
The little pic in the bottom right
is my mother and her little brother.

I worked on my pond off the back deck all day today.
But just couldn't get it ready for my
outdoor wed post. Will have to wait til
next week.

Hope you all have a Wacky Wednesday.
Go on have some fun!

Begin by visiting
Dixie in French Lique, TX for some WW
