Lions and Manes

This year I am continuing World History with my son. The last section starting in 1815 to the Present. While reading the time line of events and the highlights from 1815 to 1823 there was mention under the visual arts column:1820 Thorvaldsen: "The Lion of Lucerne," sculpture. And in 1821 Using the model by Thorvaldsen, the Swiss sculptor Lucas Ahorn finishes the Lucerne Lion Monument.

In May of 1990 my hubby and I along with his folks visited all around Europe starting in Berlin,Germany where we helped 'take down the wall,' then on to Zermatt where we celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, and then on to Lucrene, Switzerland. I shared these pictures with Samuel as we talked about me seeing, first hand, a little piece of history.

That is back when my mane of locks
were their natural shade of brown.

Now they are a natural shade of...
well not brown.

H O W D Y from Texas!

I let MIL snap a few pics before we headed off
for the ukulele western show.
But we sang more than western...
Jambalaya, Deep in the Heart of Texas,
The Yellow Rose of Texas, and
Alla En El Rancho Grande! Ajua!

And sharing more of my week...

My tablescape comes from the other day
when I had lunch at a friend's house.
I brought the flowers picked from my vegetable garden.

Wish I had captured just how delicious the salad looked.
Mint chocolate chip cookies
Herbal Hibiscus Tea (I couldn't get enough)
Rye bread & butter (which has childhood memories)

She has three pieces of this vintage dining room furniture.
I could kick myself for not taking a picture
of the most unique piece.
We (3 girl friends) were so busy chatting, looking, &
sharing our worlds, I guess I was lucky to
get the photos I did.

My two great-nephews are coming tomorrow.
It will be my first time to keep them. The youngest
has never been to my house.
Two boys 4 & 6 yrs. old, will be spending
Thrus - Sun at
ROCK AUNT CANDY'S CAMP HOUSE!

We are going to have a blast!!!
