From junk piles to antiques...

Started out in a college town where the kids are
leaving after summer classes.

I could not believe what we saw as we turned the corner...
spoiled rotten kids just dump anything and everything.
Parents hard earned money turned to trash.

Not sure how long this stuff had been there but
a few goodies worth saving were...
like new pair of boots just Terry's size!

pillows, metal cabinet, little pink beaded purse,
brand new snowflake cookie jar--still in the box.

~*~*~*~

After loading all the junk we could carry
we then headed off down the road to
Geronimo, Tx
where Dixie of French Lique, Tx has
set up shop in a corner of an antique mall.
Terry and I were just oooing and ahhhing
at all the trinkets and treasures.

We each picked out a little something and
wandered around looking at all the
other rooms full of yesterdays.

Here's a little shopping with the camera.

And you will never believe who we bumped into...
Ms. Victoria Bun from last Pink Saturday post.
Nice candle stick she found...

So here is what I brought home.

Just had to have this sign from Dixie's booth.
And found this wire shoe out on the porch
in a basket where everything was $1.

Poor Cinderella stumped her toe after
losing her shoe...but I still had to have her.

Fun day but boy I am pooped!

Dumpster Diving!

To celebrate Thrifty Thursday
I am going off for the day with my junkin' buddy.
What will I find? Where will we look?
Well, if you have been following my trips lately,

no stone or dumpster will be left unturned!

Sit by the phone girl, and if we need
backup I'll call ya!

In the mean time head over to
Tales from Bloggeritaville for the
other thrifty finds.

~*~*~*~*~*~

I did leave a little snack just for you,
a sweet cool refreshment because
ya know, most of those
Tablescapes don't include food.

E N J O Y ! ! !

Yes, do enjoy all the lovely creations
that the participants have put together.

I've started and can't STOP!

Thrifting Thursday is perfect for me because
I take my son into the village for fiddle lessons.

I tried to be good today
after my little junkin' yesterday
so I headed for the library.
Checked out a few books but
uh oh just enough time...

I'll just go look. Have you ever used that one
on yourself?

25c baskets, little two-tier tray,
three-section glass tower,
large leather scrap book cover...

vintage little bear and cart,
and even though this cute little cup has a chip,
I want to make on of those candle sticks like
Spencer. She gave a little tutorial and if you go by
please, tell her I sent you ;-)

Bed linens--king skirt, 2 shams, & a small pillow--all $3

Now just like yesterday...remember the dumpster part?

This one was next to a storage unit place. People
clean out and toss...good stuff!

My son helped dig and load with me
but just rolling his eyes saying, "That's enough!"

Isn't this a cool old bottle?

Table with book ledge...any suggestions on paint?

The trunk was in two pieces but do you think that
bothers me?

and grandma's SINGER!

Advice from the Pooh!

Sounds like good advice and I did make a little
list of things to look out for.

Looks like by the smile on his face,
Pooh thinks I did pretty good.
Two more containers for my cactus container garden...
the brass fondue pot and the silver soup terrine.

Angel pedestal will be great for a cake platter.
And the two greenish blue cups will be nice
the next time Terry comes to visit.
(Thought of you, girl friend, when I saw these ;-)

Doll heads, they were on the list but I couldn't remember
if my project idea called for hair or no hair.
Got both, one blue eyed and the other brown.

O.K. this next picture you're probably thinking...
looks like a pile trash! But this is where
T h I R f T y T h U r S d A Y
really kicks in...

So... as I'm leaving the thrift store I head around back
to check out a FREE chair which just happened to
be right next to the dumpster.

No you didn't!

Did you?

You bet I did!!!

His & hers ice skates, upholstery material--new,
silk scarfs, pair of good leather gloves,
and a bit more odds and ends.

Dixie, I could hear these calling your name.
At least that one in the middle--Am I right?

It took all I could to keep from climbing up into that
thing and digging all the way to the bottom.
I may go back after dark. Anybody want to
come hold the flash light?

Do I qualify for Dixie's new JUNKIN' BLOG?

Every Thursday I run my son into
the village for fiddle lessons. I slow
down, push him out, and head for
Old River Road thrift.
Even though I was there yesterday with
my friend, Terry, they didn't have much.

But today, Honey, I was snatchin' and grabbin.'
With projects swimming in my head...
(without much brains there's plenty of room)

Crocheted table cloth, silk window scarf,
and more Oh! My!
Ms. Lamb was tucked down on the bottom shelf
just wondering who would
see her beauty and
love her.
"I will ~ you cute little thing!"

It's those one-of-a-kind things that make me
want to jump up and down...just ask Dixie and Terry.

What to cook in this pot?
How about cactus soup. We saw some really
cute ones yesterday in all kinds of containers.

Books! YES!!!
I was arranging, well really re-arranging some books
the other day. Commented to sweet hubs, I NEED more
book shelves. He repiled, 'Maybe you need to get
rid of some books!'
HE MUST BE JOKING ;-)

Have read Judy Blume children's books
so thought this might be good...Wifey.
I am a bit cautious from the book cover description
but I'll keep an open mind...
well maybe half open.

And this vintage baby book is just too sweet.
Not even used. I'll have to scan some pages for you
embellishing ladies to use. Looks like the same
artwork as my own baby book.
Does that make me vintage?

I'm glad sweet hubs doesn't follow my blog.
He just sees stuff piling up and quietly wonders.
Now I'm off to see what's pilin' up at your place!

Friday Fun at Trade Days

The sun was shining brightly and
a brisk cool breeze filled the air
as Terry and I began our day.
Giddy with excitement and giggles
brought out the lighter side of
shop owners as they shared
bits of their personal lives with us.
One lady asked if we had
been hittin' the sauce...
nope, we're just high on life.

We would gather little things here and there
filling our shopping bags,
then head for the car, unload, and
rebound for more.

Do you like my party hat?

I do, I do like that party hat!

O.K. this was a bit overwhelming.
We only checked out about
five tables. It would have taken
a week to go through all that stuff.

So here is most of what I brought home.

One little blue crocheted baby shoe
The gold colored heart actually came from
the booth with the tons of stuff.

I looked at this blue rimmed bowl and rustled with...
should I? $5 I don't know?
Then the man said,"That stack of dishes are $1 each."
SOLD! Hey lady, I just want you to know,
it does have a chip.

It was a great day,
wish you all could have come along!

Good Night
