Found out I have...

~ Provenance ~
Dang...my French manicure
didn't show up in this picture ;-(

Provenance, from the French provenir, "to come from", means the origin, or the source of something, or the history of the ownership or location of an object.
It all began with this lady who traveled abroad singing opera, educated in France, a draftsman for the Forest Service, and a music teacher at Grinnel College--just to name a few of the things that gave her a name. And her name~~Anna Rosalie Holberg, 1883-1973. Again with those family trunks? Yes. Had this stack of lovely lace for quite a while before noticing that the lace in these photographs were one and the same, c. 1914.

At Paper Cowgirl Art Retreat this past weekend, I had the opportunity for a cuff swap. Having never made one before I set off on a quick web search for inspiration. My swap mate was Sandra and through an exchange of e-mails I had my color palette~~brown and turquoise. Collecting trims, ribbons, buttons and lace...slowly something took shape. Started with a section of a woven belt and attached a small bit of Anna Rosalie's lace.
Now for the frilly part...vintage binding, tea-stained and torn muslin, a bit of suede from a thrift store find. Oh, how 'bout a piece from my wild cat fur that I've had for years and years. A corner got a little brittle and broke off. Perfect!
Wild Cat Cowgirl Cuff
Wrapped with a photo collage of Anna in her gown.
Sandra wore an animal print outfit
and me in pink...it couldn't have
turned out better if we had planned it.
And then the newsman says...

Cowgirls and cuffs!
Story at 11:00.

I don't think we were ever formally introduced at Paper Cowgirl, but I know that if we ever got to "know" each other...we'd be dangerously CRAZY together!!!!
Maybe next time :)
