You were invited~

I dreamed last night of an evening with friends.
I served the most delicious dishes
that had us all savoring every morsel.
Gathered around the table were my new friends,
you sweet ladies that
offer support and encouragement with
funny, witty and clever comments.

One of the ladies, Spencer was her name, brought me
the most lovely hostess gift. As I untied the twine
which held a twig of forever leaves,
my eyes fell upon a bloomin' card.
Each little detail had to be examined.
Then I unfolded the most intricate
needle work with beads and golden cords.
Oh, it's a pillow cover!
This dream just kept getting better and better.

And then I awoke...

to find this at the foot of my bed.

In blogland my dreams really do come true!

Thank you Spencer~
and
Thank you all~
for bringing a smile to my heart.

And be sure to visit & thank Susan~
for hosting Tablescape Thursday.

Celebrate MOM~

This week the focus is on us Moms,
with a force so powerful,
we set the tone in the home.

Let's start the morning on the porch...
the birds are singing,
a gentle breeze is dancing among the flowers,
and the butterflies are putting on a show.

Please sit and share a cup of tea with me.

Thank you, MOM for all you do
to feather and fluff your nest.

(hope you take the time to click-enlarge each
picture to experience the rich textures and vibrant colors)

The fruit of kindness adorns your domain.
Special little touches of comfort and beauty
tucked into every nook and cranny.

When you finish your tea we'll
move onto the deck for brunch,
a special setting for a special lady.

We are all different, with varied talents,
but together we make a lovely arrangement
just like this one on the table.

Have a delicious Thursday, all you
pretty peachy people.

Anyone up for a game of croquet?

If not, check with Susan...
~Between Naps on the Porch~
for your next visit.

Hope you leave with a smile in your heart

Giving my MIL the night off,
told her I would do dinner.

With all the wonderful rain we're getting
here in Texas everything is turning green.
So I chose green stem ware and napkins to
compliment the fruit of my labor.
(both from the thrift store)
Monogrammed family silver from the1880's.

They say, "An apple a day..."

Got these salad plates at Kolh's
a hundred years ago, well...
at least a really long time ago.

Borrowed these place mats from my MIL
(guess I forgot to return 'em, oops)

But they were made for these dishes,
how could I split them up now?

Chef Hubby did steaks on the grill
while I made asparagus, mashed potatoes,
and a fruit plate.
(strawberries, blackberries, & mango)

BIL brought hot apple pie...delish!

Don't forget to stop over at Susan's
for more table top creations.

Easter Brunch & Where I Cook~

What could be more natural
than greeting Easter morning
in the garden?

And here is where that cookin' is done. The heart of
my kitchen...the stove where love is mixed up
and ready to serve.

She rises also while it is still night,
And gives food to her household...

The builder couldn't understand why I
wanted a deep useless corner left open
behind my corner stove top. Just do it please.

The miniature cast iron stove and painted rock shoe
(on the brown box in the back-click to enlarge)
belonged to my MIL's mother. She was a kindred spirit
when it came to crafting. Wish I could have known her better.

This cutie pie on the wall always makes me smile...
stirs up (pun intended) feelings of my childhood.
Cute apron don't you think?

Susan has the menu for what's bein'
served up this week, so...

I am off to Round Top Antique Market
at the crack of dawn.
So no time to set the table...
please come on in, help yourself and enjoy.

Tablescape Thursday

These paper dolls were my
Mother's when she was a little girl.
I was once part of a
birthday club
and every month we would
pick a theme and celebrate.
One month this cute little girl provided
inspiration with her wardrobe.
Each place setting--place mat & dishes--
coordinated with a different dress.

~this was what mine looked like~

Now your invited to pour a cup of tea,
wander over to Susan's and
peek through the window.

Enjoy all the TABLESCAPES
