Today I wish to show you ahat box I covered for my
Mother...a loooong time ago...

It is actually a pillow. The little photo in the
pocket watch frame is my parents--
young and in love.
And they are still in love today.
Take your hat off...dinner's on the table!And now I would like to tell you that
my son is a great Dutch oven cook!
He makes the best fried chicken,
finger lickin' good!
Then he got the idea to cook a roast.
Built the frame from cedar
cut on our property.
Also striped a cedar branch
to hold the meat.
Then we show the wonderful result.
And since I'm bragging...I will also
tell you he plays a mean fiddle.

I think I recognize native rock on your house in the picture, and the cedar clinches it -- HILL COUNTRY -- I used to live in Georgetown, I wonder if you are anywhere near there! The houses were so pretty with all that native stone. But the yards were just ALL rocks! Live way out in West Texas now, very different indeed.
Your son is surely a young man to be proud of! Talented in many ways!

Lovely hat box and it's great that you've taught your son to cook! It's a lost art to many young men!
Most only can cook by opening up a can of Bampbell's or a package of hot dogs. Back when I was in school, they used to have a class for the young men called bachelor survival.
Wow, you have raised a multi-talented young man. I would want him with me if we were stuck in the woods. The food looks yummy.

Beautiful job on the hat box. I love the picture of your folks, you can definately tell they love each other. What precious memories. I love to hear a good fiddler! Anytime he wants to put on a blog concert we are game;)
