"Oh My Goodness!
I totally forgot to post my
White Wednesday
before I left."

"Oh fiddle-dee-dee, don't let it
ruin our day."

Let's just go visit all the others
at Faded Charm.

Wishing happiness to all!

This is my first Altered Pocket Book made at the art retreat last weekend. Started with a children's book to give it a 2nd Time Around to hold photos, vintage tags, or whatever my heart might desire. And I'm pretty sure Ruby Tuesday would love Max's red coat.

LaVerne, our talented teacher provided dictionary pages, sheets of music, various stamps and ink pads, and an assortment of embellishments to fuel our own style and creativity.
Click to see the glitter glue raindrops & the King's key. Here it is ready for me to fill the pockets.
I said this was my first because I loved letting my imagination run wild and so, can't wait to make another and another and another. Wedding or Anniversary theme, Birthday theme, Christmas...New friends...Doris, her daughter Laura from Tennessee,
me & our teacher LaVerne.

SHOUT OUT TO LAURA, LUVYA GIRL!

Hope I've inspired you to give
an old book
hope for a
2nd Time Around
Ruby Tuesday style.

Found out I have...

~ Provenance ~
Dang...my French manicure
didn't show up in this picture ;-(

Provenance, from the French provenir, "to come from", means the origin, or the source of something, or the history of the ownership or location of an object.
It all began with this lady who traveled abroad singing opera, educated in France, a draftsman for the Forest Service, and a music teacher at Grinnel College--just to name a few of the things that gave her a name. And her name~~Anna Rosalie Holberg, 1883-1973. Again with those family trunks? Yes. Had this stack of lovely lace for quite a while before noticing that the lace in these photographs were one and the same, c. 1914.

At Paper Cowgirl Art Retreat this past weekend, I had the opportunity for a cuff swap. Having never made one before I set off on a quick web search for inspiration. My swap mate was Sandra and through an exchange of e-mails I had my color palette~~brown and turquoise. Collecting trims, ribbons, buttons and lace...slowly something took shape. Started with a section of a woven belt and attached a small bit of Anna Rosalie's lace.
Now for the frilly part...vintage binding, tea-stained and torn muslin, a bit of suede from a thrift store find. Oh, how 'bout a piece from my wild cat fur that I've had for years and years. A corner got a little brittle and broke off. Perfect!
Wild Cat Cowgirl Cuff
Wrapped with a photo collage of Anna in her gown.
Sandra wore an animal print outfit
and me in pink...it couldn't have
turned out better if we had planned it.
And then the newsman says...

Cowgirls and cuffs!

Cowgirls Weekend...

...finally here. With glue gun in
its holster I'm ready to head
down the dust
y trail for
a couple days of
crafts, cupcakes,
and carousing.
Really hoping this doesn't happen. Ouch!

As you can see I've been practicing since I was quite young. Look at me standing in the saddle. What a buckaroo!
Here's a sneak peek at the fabric cuff I made so that I could play in the cuff swap. Will post the whole story on Blue Monday and give the rest of the details. This lace has a bit of history to share. I hope Sandra likes it.

Hope all you gals have a fun and
safe weekend.

Wander across the bridge for a short
visit with me.

We'll sit in the cool breeze,
just imagine a cool breeze...
(remember this is Texas)

Let's talk about things to plant in.
Let's think outside the pot!

Things sure to be on my garage sale list...
shoes and toys.

I love to have a bit of whimsy
not only in my house but
also in my
Outdoor garden.

While going through boxes of saved treasures we came across this sweet little booklet made in Sunday School c.1950's. We being me, MIL, and my SIL visiting from Oregon. Pouring over old photographs, letters and postcards, and news clippings has resulted in a little stack of things I will be sharing with you.

Enjoy!

YELLO! EVERYBODY!

Busy as a bee...

Need more time...

Seems I'm always
heading out the door...

When I'd love to stay home
and
MAKE stuff...

or weed the garden...
I love weeds that come
with flowers...
Mirror...Mirror...on the wall,
do I really have to go
to the ball?

Trying to be a woman
who makes a difference...
but just a few moments
for a nap...
a power nap!

Stay mellow and check out other
Mellow Yellow Monday

I'm also joining Smiling Sally's
Blue Monday.
That's right!
Celebrating blue skies,
blue flowers, and
blue wings on the airplane.

Hope you too, are stealing
those moments to
recharge...
before the next thing comes along.
