I have been a bit slow...
okay maybe just plain absent...
from posting lately.
But I did have a few lovely white
photos in reserve.
So I am heading back to bed...

Do you know how long it takes to
collect this many
white pitchers?

I have a redo in mind for my
dining area and these cabinets
(the ones above)
are just what I am looking for.
Only I am going to need
two sections to fill the space.
Salvage yard here I come...soon.

Cheers to you all on this
WHITE WEDNESDAY.

Remember that Faded Charm Cottage
has the list of other white posts.
Check it out or better yet

Also want to share about a new Esty Shop.
Myrna of More than Heirlooms has made
a beautiful creation to announce her grand opening.
It's a GIVEAWAY! and I'm throwing
my name in the hat for this one ;-)

Golden Yellow

Rich velvet in pleasing shades if gold and aqua create
the perfect retreat for a mellow afternoon by the window.

And the heart of the home will have that
warm and cozy feeling
with harvest yellow accents on the floor and a
table and chairs set with a vintage look.

Here I am hoping your Monday has some
yellow accents and mellow feelings.

And to see more yellows from around the
world, check with the

Gold and Silver

Today I have a few photos to share,
of golden glamor and sterling silver.

First a golden warm setting of pottery.
Needs a scattering of autumn leaves and
a few pumpkins don't you think.

And I see on the other end of the room
a velvety golden sofa...
to continue those
after dinner conversations.

~*~*~*~*~

Then I have silver...shiny, cool and sleek.
And to continue those conversations
around old literature...
a silver sofa laden with cushions.

Or maybe a mixture of the two. As in the one above
with the lush golden ottoman or below
which is a bit more formal
silver and gold.

Do you have a favorite?
Are you a golden gal or a silver sister?

Speaking of golden...
Susan's tablescapes are always over the top.
And this week she has consulted

Over the river...

...and through the woods...well you know how it goes.
But no pudding or pumpkin pie awaiting my arrival.
Just a cleaning bucket, mop, and vacuum.
It is cleaning day down at my
dear MIL's cottage in the woods.

But before I go here are two pictures to
celebrate fall.

Wonderful buttons ready to harvest
for those autumn projects.
Discovered at The Button Company.

The leaves are blowing in the air,
so drop your worries and your care
and head over to the Monday meme fairs.

Lions and Manes

This year I am continuing World History with my son. The last section starting in 1815 to the Present. While reading the time line of events and the highlights from 1815 to 1823 there was mention under the visual arts column:1820 Thorvaldsen: "The Lion of Lucerne," sculpture. And in 1821 Using the model by Thorvaldsen, the Swiss sculptor Lucas Ahorn finishes the Lucerne Lion Monument.
In May of 1990 my hubby and I along with his folks visited all around Europe starting in Berlin,Germany where we helped 'take down the wall,' then on to Zermatt where we celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, and then on to Lucrene, Switzerland. I shared these pictures with Samuel as we talked about me seeing, first hand, a little piece of history.
Here I am with MIL.
That is back when my mane of locks
were their natural shade of brown.
Now they are a natural shade of...
well not brown.

Hope I didn't bore you with the family album.
I could have showed many more pictures of
everything in between but will save them for
another time.

Have a trip to share or just want to take
a little tour with others...fly over to
Christine's Home and Travel Adventures.

HaPpY BiRtHdAy SiS!

Sitting here at the eleventh hour wondering...
what am I going to post for PINK SATURDAY?
And then it hits me!

My big sister's birthday is Sunday.
And I remembered a picture of her in
a cute PINK sweater.
Here she is at 3 years old.
And again at 4 . Longer hair and not sure what Mother was thinking with our bangs. Yes, mine looked like that too and also my little sister had the same cut. Was it the style then. Did any of you gals look like this or were you all snickering behind our backs?
But even so I think she was charming in
her soft pink 'Wish upon a star' sweater.

Here's wishing you a
Happy Birthday Pam!

There is a pile of PINK presents to open over
at Beverly's pink party place. See ya there!

Just fiddlin' around...

Every PARTY needs a little music. Well at least that's the story that has been passed down through the ages. And what kind of barn dance would it be if thar wernt no fiddle? This is were my relatives come in. We come from a long line of musical talent from my Granny who played by ear with the spoons and harmonics, my hubby's line were opera singers who traveled abroad, and my MIL's mother and family played around the wagon train camp fires and any barn dance they came across. The girl in the picture is Aline (my hubby's grandmother) as a teenager with her dad and uncle. c 1910
I rescued the fiddle from the house Aline lived in with her husband in Edna, Texas. Unfortunately it had hung on the wall for many, many years and the last few years in the home with no climate control once Mamaw went into the nursing home shortly after Papaw's death.
Two sad pieces to the story are of course the condition of this fiddle and the other...our son plays the fiddle and his great grandmother never got to hear him. I like to think God opens up a window in heaven every now and then and they pull up a cloud and enjoy the music.

Cooler weather is on the horizon and I'm dreaming of cozy evenings of delicious food with delightful friends. A fire blazing or just crackling in the fireplace depends on the thermometer but we'll start with a little wine for sure. I love these bottle covers...one for me and one for everyone else ;-)
My table will have mismatched blue glasses because that's what I have. It's hard to find a whole set at the thrift store ;-( Have a little more wine and no one'll notice ;-)
Easy center piece decorations with maybe
a few pine cones thrown in for good measure.

Also quite fond of mismatched silver ware.
No I really am, and not
just for the reason stated above.

Well I hope you enjoyed my little dream
of harvest time tablescapes.
I would like to thank Country Living
for providing the inspiration.

And for even more inspiring tables there are many more to see over at Susan's Between Naps on the Porch & OH MY! we are in for a treat starting with her guest Bonnie, who is sharing a few of her creations. Believe me you don't want to miss it!

Thanksgiving season is upon us
and near the top of my 'thankful list'
are my blogging beauties.
This is my first fall/winter holiday season
in this wonderland and I am so looking
forward to all the fun.
