Trail Blazer

Drawing a blank on what to post today...
until signing onto GOOGLE this morning.
The little artwork above their logo--I recognized.
Mary Cassatt

Born in Pennsylvania on May 22, 1844.
Her dream..."I want to be an artist."
She made her way to Paris at the age of 22.

Upon seeing one of her paintings, Degas remarked.
He couldn't believe it was the work of a woman.
Not only was Mary Cassatt female,
she wasn't even French!

She painted what she knew best--life at home.
In the 1800s, it wasn't thought to be proper for well-brought up women to be seen by themselves at cafes, train stations, or even on city streets.
Cassatt didn't make people look better than they did in real life. An ungrateful relative once returned a portrait to her. The nose was too big! Painting children was a much better option. They might wiggle and squirm when she drew them, but at least they didn't complain about the size of their noses.
I learned about some of the Impressionist Painters
several years ago while co-teaching a
Home School art class on the subject.
So today we celebrate Mary Cassatt, an American woman,
who helped pave the way for creative, talented, and...
while all women. Thanks, Mary.

TEXAS in bloom~

The landscape is alive as the Maker
shares these little jewels with His children.
And when I stop to observe,
I just have to say Thank you, Lord
that is so cool!
Please stop by Susan's for a map of the
other OUTDOOR wonders.

Join the party!

Now that my gardening is done
(see last post)
I am heading over to
Grits and Glamour for her Tea Time.
Of course one should really wear the right shoe.
A Tea Cup Pump

And it just wouldn't be a party without a dizzy ride.
When Gardening, don't forget your overalls!

But I'm almost positive this is more than the
2nd Time Around

Good Time, Good Food~

Here are a few blues from my trip on Friday.
We ended up in Boerne, Tx.
As usual the color didn't come out true:-/

Back in Wimberley we stopped by STAR ANTIQUE
for some lamp shades.
See the blue gate among the other wonders?

Our trip started with disappointment...
our destination--Twin Sisters Antique Mall--
had moved to Burnett.
Another town in the opposite direction.
So we headed for Boerne, checked out a few shops
had lunch at a wonderful Tea Room,
and then headed back to Wimberley.
But all was not lost,
ESTATE SALE
and it was a pretty good one.
After that we weren't singin' the blues.
Not that we were because time with a
friend is always good, no matter what you do.

Be Back Soon!

I am heading out with a friend to do a little
antiquing around the Hill Country.
You're welcome to sit, enjoy the view and
partake in a refreshing drink
while checking out a post from ~ another time.
(I'm sure most of you have not peeked all the
way back to where I started, so it won't be a rerun)

Just click your heels together three times and
(also click here...very important!)
and off you'll go.
Got my camera packed with several rolls of film
(wow, aren't you glad those days are behind us?)
because you know I want to share
my adventure with you.
Be good, and don't forget the sunscreen!
And for a magical moment stop by
The house in the roses...
you won't be disappointed!

A 50's Diner~

It all started with thinking about what
to serve for Mother's Day.
Mamaw's favorite meal? Burger & Fries!
Atmosphere? Hey Daddy-O! what about
a diner, a 50's diner?

Hung out the shingle and cranked up the Juke Box.

Onion Rings (best I have ever made) & Fries came out of
the Fry Daddy, assembled the burgers--to order--
and delivered to the hungry customers...
next thing I knew we are sitting back talkin'
'bout how good everything was and...
OMGosh! no pictures:-(

No time for shoppin' but look what I found
in the back of my closet.
(why this was in my closet is a whole 'nother story)
MIL is still talkin' about 'THE BEST'
party ever!
~Candy~
ps Pony, Monkey, or Twist on over to Susan's for
more tables deck out for a good time.
MY little WORLD~

Just walked out this morning to see what I could see.
If I could capture a few things to show
for OUTDOOR WEDNESDAY...
(if you take the time to click on to enlarge
makes for a more life size experience)

Still working the fence issue, but getting close.
This is a small 'room' where I did
a little recycling of wine bottles.
(took me almost a whole week to get this many)
JUST KIDDING;-}

little sugar drops to the deer, they love 'em.
The fence saved this one.
And here they are trying to figure out how...
Over? Under? Around? Through?
These are the white tail, but we also have
Black Buck Antelope and Fallow in our
gated community. It is definitely a
love/hate relationship.
(the horns in the first pic are from a fallow)

This is why I love to visit your lovely flowers
every week.
Thanks to Susan for pulling our
OUTDOOR pictures into a
nice 'Garden Magazine'
