HAT PILLOW

The sun is out today, glorious sun!
But while the rain fell for almost a week
I took time to create another hat pillow.

On a black velvet find I put a bit of
vintage crocheted lace and buttons
from my family heirlooms.

Used the same fabric on the bottom
as the gathered band and yo-yos.

Thanks for stopping by to see my
SHOW & TELL

I just this morning discovered

enjoy the

Somebody, please throw me a life perserver!

I am swamped under paper work with deadlines breathing down my neck. Gathering this and collecting that for my son's high school transcript. This fall being his Senior year is going to be buzzing with activities. Although it is neater to have all that information on the computer in nice little file folders...what do you do when the power goes out?

Fortunately it was only a couple hours, and then I was back at it. The work will continue in the morning until the clock strikes noon. That's when I load my suitcase with costumes, grab my ukulele, and head out the door.

Tomorrow I am off with the ukulele band to put on a luau show at a neighboring town's Retirement Home. I always take my camera and then things get crazy...SHOW TIME!!!I am packed up and heading home before it hits me...no pictures again. I will go again tomorrow with high hopes of capturing some of the fun.
So for now it is more Tell than Show.
If time permits stop by and see what's going on at
Kelli's There is no place like home!

Hope Friday holds an adventure for you too!

What we saw in Geronimo...

were so many lovely, shabby, wonderful things.
Something for everybody. Terry admired
the bold red cream & sugar set.

And pinks. Who doesn't go for pink?

Ms Dixie found herself a new Sunday go-to-meetin' hat!
I think it went nicely with the weddin' dress she found.
Check her blog to see things from her perspective.
Don't worry Ricky, she thinks you're the cat's pajamas.

Now to a few things that I just couldn't leave behind.
Looks like a good start to a new collection.

And this blue candy dish...what?
It had my name on it. I had to get it.

Books, a few new ones for my collection.

I'm a bona fide magazine feen! So when I uncovered
a stack of vintage Victoria $1 each...from 1990-1998,
I finally had to tell myself to stop. I did leave some,
but now trying to keep myself from going back
and getting 'em.

This little town of Geronimo has been there all
these years. Practically right under my nose and
I never knew it. But just know I am going to
make up for lost time.

Now I'm off to the deck with a cup of tea and a magazine...
sure wish you were here to share with me.
But do go by Kelli's to see more SHOW & TELL

Trail Blazer

Drawing a blank on what to post today...
until signing onto GOOGLE this morning.
The little artwork above their logo--I recognized.

Mary Cassatt

Born in Pennsylvania on May 22, 1844.
Her dream..."I want to be an artist."
She made her way to Paris at the age of 22.

Upon seeing one of her paintings, Degas remarked.
He couldn't believe it was the work of a woman.
Not only was Mary Cassatt female,
she wasn't even French!

(I picked this print up at a thrift store)

She painted what she knew best--life at home.
In the 1800s, it wasn't thought to be proper for well-brought up women to be seen by themselves at cafes, train stations, or even on city streets.
Cassatt didn't make people look better than they did in real life. An ungrateful relative once returned a portrait to her. The nose was too big! Painting children was a much better option. They might wiggle and squirm when she drew them, but at least they didn't complain about the size of their noses.

I learned about some of the Impressionist Painters
several years ago while co-teaching a
Home School art class on the subject.

So today we celebrate Mary Cassatt, an American woman,
who helped pave the way for creative, talented, and...
while all women. Thanks, Mary.

Last week there were but a few
purple buds peeking, teasing.

This week...out in all their glory.

When words escape,
flowers speak.
- Bruce W. Currie

In my garden there is a large place for sentiment.
My garden of flowers is also
my
garden of thoughts and dreams.
The thoughts grow as freely as the flowers,

and the dreams are as beautiful.

When you leave my garden don't forget
to pass by Kelli's House.
