Case in point...

It's all about the vintage, altered, embellished
suitcase...and here are some that caught my eye
at Round Top Antique Show this fall.
how clever is this?
I wondered later if they cut out the backs for storage places.

Dixie from French Lique and I
cuttin' up at Theresa's blog party.
Her booth (one of my favorites)
was in the shadows of
Zapp Hall.

This was a vignette that would have made
Goldie Locks curl up and take a nap...
Love you...love it!

Fragments, Perfectly Flawed
a booth full of wonderful creations.
I would like to think of myself as perfectly flawed ;-)

Heading back to the car all hot and red faced,
I had to stop for a pose with
Cactus Jack the hat maker. It was a fun trip and sometimes
we just had to
laugh out loud!
Hope you too will have a day
with a little laughter in it...

Just back from a quick trip to Dallas with my hubby. He was working and I was out spending it. Found myself at the Grapevine Mills Mall which had a pretty nice book store--Books-A-Million. Well being the magazine junkie that I am, I just had to have this one. Vintage & Victorian...two things that are great all by themselves but put together well...here's just a tiny bit of what's waiting inside.

Living rooms...
and you should see the whole thing.
It's a two pager and
I'm only sharing half.
A center-fold sure to get your heart racing.

and Bedrooms...
I love the mostly white look
but color really does it for me!

and Kitchens...Oh My!

I'm pruddy sure this magazine is going
to add a few wishes to my
Round Top shopping list.

Leaving on Saturday
Yee-ha!!!

Not all roses are red...

Of course I am off doing...
life, but just had to
take a moment to share
some pink love.
Saturdays are Kitchen Band practice at
my mother-in-laws retirement home.
We are working on a new show...
All About Girls!
more on that later
A piece of my heart...and mind
are home dreaming of redecorating.
And these two scenes make me happy.

Wishing all a happy pink Saturday.

Love on Wings

pearls & buttons & rust...oh my!

Can't remember how long it's been
since I created something.
So today I broke the dry spell.
I am trying a new thing...
CRAFT DAY every Wednesday.
vintage flower embellishment

With one of my sister's birthday approaching,
I wanted to make a little love. Using my new art form
of fabric collage learned from KC Willis a vintage, winged
lady encourages to spread your wings and fly.
But I know this wouldn't have happened
if not for CRAFT DAY!

Happy Birthday Pam!
Spread your wings and
do something you've always
dreamed of doing.

Love from

My life in a nutshell...

Really, the other day I had to go out
on my back deck and
S C R E A M.

(glad we live in the woods)
But I did feel a little better
after that.

I don't even like roller coasters
but for a few months now
I swear I've been on one.

UP UP UP
Wedding planning for my son's
big day next summer.

Just had the cake tasting this week
with him and the bride's mom and sister.
His love was working and she
trusts him with more than her heart.
no that skinny one
with the tater tot boobs
isn't me
(girls in photo are just stand ins)

Another UP UP UP

Getting my son ready for college.
We leave in the morning for A&M WHOOP!BUT................
after getting him settled and before
my love and I return to our
empty nest...

We are going to send two nights
at the Hyatt Resort in Lost Pines.
Celebrating our 36th anniversary!

Sorry, I know I said, "My life in a nutshell," and I usually am a chick of few words but I guess this is kinda like therapy. 36 years and just now taking my baby to college? Yes. His name is Samuel~~asked of the Lord. I had many years of hoping, wishing, and praying before he came. So it seems that my dear hubby and I have had our journey in sections. Many years of just us, then parents, and now looking forward to the next turn.

Still another UP UP UP
My MIL's Kitchen Band at the retirement home. (she's the one in the white shirt on the far right) We practice every Saturday morning. But not tomorrow...remember I'm heading for College Station. These ladies are so sweet. This picture was a couple months ago when they boarded their Horizon Bay bus and traveled to a nearby nursing home to entertain the 'old folks.' We do have fun and music is such a spirit lifter.

WOO-HOO!!!

Remember Me?

Romantic Homes

I feel as though I've been treading water
in order to survive.
As you can see the water has calmed
and I'm ready for a little rest.

Reading through my newest
Romantic Homes,
my decorating soul was
captured by...
Gina Galvin's Peacock Paradise
I skipped to my computer
for a search...
I needed to see more.

On her blog
Peacock Park Design
on the side bar
was the WWC she was in.
I remembered her story
was one I loved.

Now I can't wait to learn more
about her, but first I just had
to share with you.

Hope I haven't been forgotten...

Sending out some love...

...on this day. Here's my wish for you.

"Sometimes I wish
I were six and my
biggest problem was
what dress to wear."

Hope your day is an easy one.

Soaring?

"One cannot consent to
creep when one feels
the impulse to soar."
Helen Keller
Although creep would best describe
my latest creation,
I'm soaring now that she's completed.
I chose a black pillow for the base of this fabric collage of vintage doilies, vintage trim and this vintage print of a girl in a fabulously embellished butterfly dress. Also added were a few sequins and pink glass beads from the last generation of crafters in the family.

I think it would provide a nice pop of color for any shabby chic setting. Whether on a bed, sofa, or chair she would remind those passing by to release their gypsy soul to new possibilities.

She'll be waiting here...

One step closer...

...to my second trip to the Round Top Antique Show in Texas. My introduction to this huge extravaganza was last spring when I just went for the day. That's when I saw miles and miles and miles of tents and I knew I must come back for the fall show. So with two BFFs, we have booked this charming B&B. Knowing that places fill up fast, I was so delighted to stumble onto this little jewel just 15 miles down the road. Oma's Country Cottage had a few open days in between a California lady that comes every year and another group coming the last weekend of the show. And if you are still looking for a place, I do believe there might be a few days open in the middle of the week.

I thought this blue cottage was the
perfect post for
Blue Monday
at Smiling Sally's

Hope your week is off to a good start...

Friday Food for Thought...

painting by Henrie Brown

If you've heard of Magnolia Pearl, you know what a precious lady she is. If you haven't heard of her or don't follow her blog, I would encourage you to stop by every now and then. I just did and her latest post played on the strings of my heart...who is writing on my slate?

Well now that's food for thought.
Another thought I had...
maybe someone else
needs to hear
these words.

Blogging Angels

Here at my place things change... move around... you know, kinda like life.

My outlook on life changes...
moves and morphs...

as my vintage soul explores.

My rose colored glasses from my youth
have changed into...
just plain reading glasses.

But do they have to be plain?

I don't think so!
Here's me looking at you
and wishing wonderful blessings
to my blogging angels
where ever you are.

This little cracked, chipped & faded angel
is joining
White Wednesday
over at
Faded Charm.

Pop your glasses on and
go check it out...

Pink?

Life has been a bit crazy here,
I'm missing out on posting and visiting.

But I have been gathering
wedding ideas...
I love the romantic shades
in this bouquet.

And also collecting inspiration
to help me finish a pillow project.
I just stumbled onto Angela Lace
a blog
loaded with delicious pinks.

With daughters and grand daughters
she is no stranger to pink!
This cute little covered soap
lacy thingy caught my eye.
and I love the crocheted
pink flowers on
this pillow.

Hope you have time to visit Anglea
and also all the other
Pink Saturday gals.

Wishing a pink cotton-candy
weekend to you all...

I need more time...

Really!!! My heart tugs every time I run past my crafting table. I have two projects developing and hopefully next week I can complete them. For now...it's off to Texas A&M for their New Student Conference. Our only son, our only child will be heading to college in the Fall (end of August). I told a friend the other day that I wondered if it was possible to jump up and down with joy and cry at the same time. Joy for getting him to this point and launching him out into the world and sadness for the end of childhood.

Samuel is an awesome young man and we are proud parents looking forward to this next chapter in his book of life.
GIG'EM AGGIES!
